Relieving Disc Pain with Chiropractic Care
We've helped many people in Omaha, NE over the years who were plagued by back pain, and some of those folks had been diagnosed with a disc herniation or bulge. Earlier research has shown that chiropractic adjustments can be an effective way to relieve the pain of disc herniation in the lumbar spine and other researchers have confirmed that it can relieve herniations in the neck, as well.
Now a recent case study adds to our understanding of the benefits of chiropractic for disc herniations. This study focuses on a 45-year-old woman who had a 2-year history of "chronic mild low back pain and right buttock pain." The individual described a worsening of the radicular pain down her right leg, and also reported occasional tingling in her right foot. These are all symptoms of neurological issues, and are serious symptoms.
The woman sought help from a chiropractor, who treated the patient with chiropractic adjustments and "advanced myofascial release therapy." The therapy consisted of 2 weeks of adjustments and an extra month of exercise and therapy.
The patient reported a "significant improvement in her low back pain and radiculopathy. In addition, she achieved some improvement in balance."
This report reinforces what we see in our Omaha, NE office: chiropractic care is great for cutting down on the pain of disc herniations without pills or risky surgical treatment.
